Pair of 19th Century Grand Tour Etruscan Bronze Vases
top of page

A decorative pair of antique Grand Tour 'Greek bronze' volute krater urns, now mounted as lamps.

Probably French, 19th century.

Why we like them

Almost certainly copied from an ancient example, these urns are superbly decorative and also look historically correct, unlike many other more recent interpretations. A fabulous pair of table lamps.

The urns are raised on a Vert Patricia marble bases and decorated with a Greek key bottom border and elaborate scrolls and acanthus leaves throughout. At the front and back are figures from the Classical antiquity and profile medallions at the top. Scroll designs continue on the neck ending with a beaded border. Each flanked with scrolled handles with acanthus leaves and swan's heads.

May be wired for any country.
