An unusual centre table, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London.

Circa 1820.

Why we like it

We like the solid, chunky quality of this robust table – which makes it perfect for displaying a collection of Grand Tour marbles or bronzes.

Though not stamped, this elegant table has many stylistic and constructional features firmly associated with the Gillows firm.

The top looks a bit oversized but corresponds in quality, colour and proportions with the table, so it is either very well matched or may be a cabinetmaker's mistake.
