A good William IV carved mahogany pedestal, c. 1835

The serpentine and moulded solid mahogany top, with shaped apron carved with flowers and scrolls, raised on the moulded and panelled square tapering column carved with foliage, above the moulded plinth base. Wonderful carving, good and dense mahogany, beautifully patinated throughout.

The designs for pedestals for supporting busts, candelabras or plants can be found in the Chippendale's 'Director'.
